At York Central Hospital almost 62,000 people went through the doors of the Emergency Department last year - an average of 165 patients per day. First built to handle 23,000 visits per year, the hospital will more than double the size of the Emergency Department by the year 2007. "The new department will give us 25,000 square feet, more than double its size from our current 9,000 square feet." - Chief of Emergency Medicine, Nalin Ahluwalia.
