In addition to our Direct Mail Program, there are many other opportunities to make gifts in support of York Central Hospital Foundation.

• Memorials & Tributes

York Central Hospital Foundation offers donors the ability to honour the memory of a loved one or friend who has passed away. A memorial card is sent to the next-of-kin acknowledging your gift. The amount of your gift is never disclosed.

Tribute Giving is a unique way for businesses and individuals to send a personalized greeting to customers, employees, friends, teachers, etc. especially during the holiday season. Making a tribute donation in the name of a family member or friend is an enduring and meaningful way to let others know you care. You may wish to make a donation in celebration of a special occasion or to express appreciation to someone.

If you are looking for a meaningful way to commemorate your wedding day, why not consider making a donation in honour of your guests rather than giving a traditional wedding favour?

After receiving your donation, York Central Hospital Foundation will send a card to the person acknowledging your thoughtful gift. You will receive a charitable tax receipt for your donation and the knowledge that healthcare in our community has been improved.

• Planned Giving

There is an innovative way for individual members of our community to provide support to York Central Hospital Foundation. Although the majority of gifts today are in the form of annual donations, there is growing interest in making “Planned Gifts” to your Hospital Foundation through a Will or other form of estate planning, such as life insurance or gifts of property.

As an example, we received an inquiry from a gentleman planning his estate. As he explained, “I’m getting on in years and I want to give something to my Hospital which has been great to me.” He said he was going to leave 10% of his estate to York Central Hospital so the physicians and staff would have the best equipment available to care for his children and grandchildren after he was gone. The gentleman’s lawyer subsequently contacted us and his Will was changed to include a gift to York Central Hospital Foundation.

After the gentleman passed away, this donation, as directed by his Will, was used to purchase life-saving medical technology. By planning a personal gift, a thoughtful person ensured that the spirit of his name would live on, helping to save the lives of others.

York Central Hospital Foundation offers a number of creative ways for our supporters to give. Although the Hospital benefits from these gifts later, you receive recognition now. The most common types of Planned Gifts are:

• Charitable Remainder Trusts
• Gifts of Residual Interest

• The Birth-Day Tree

The birth of a child is one of the most beautiful and memorable events in family life. Nothing can prepare you for the joy and fulfillment of seeing and holding a newborn for the first time. Imagine capturing that memory in a tangible way at the Hospital where this child entered the world. You can do this by purchasing a commemorative apple with the baby’s name and date of birth, which will be placed on our special “Birth-Day Tree” in York Central Hospital’s Obstetrics Unit. As well, the family will receive a mobile etched with the baby’s name and date of birth and membership scroll acknowledging your generous gift.

A minimum donation of $100 is all it takes to get an apple installed. The apple is permanent and will be there to view for years to come.

• Monthly Giving Club

You can provide regular monthly support to York Central Hospital Foundation by authorizing the Foundation to make automatic monthly withdrawals from your bank account or credit card.

You can cancel this authorization at any time by notifying the York Central Hospital Foundation in writing at 10 Trench Street, Richmond Hill, Ontario, L4C 4Z3. This Program requires a minimum monthly donation of $5.00 for a period of no less than 3 months.

Please note that a single tax receipt for each year’s contributions will be sent at the beginning of the next calendar year. Monthly deductions will be processed on the 15th of each month.

• Annual Gala

Each November York Central Hospital Foundation hosts a Gala dinner/dance and silent auction. This annual event has raised over $3,500,000 to purchase important pieces of equipment in virtually every area of the Hospital.

• Proud Partners Classic Golf Tournament

Each June the Foundation hosts the Proud Partners Golf Tournament. This 10-year old event has now raised over $500,000 to purchase new medical technology for York Central Hospital.

• Host a Third Party Event
