What is Urology? 

Urology is a medical and surgical specialty dealing with problems and diseases of the urinary and reproductive systems including the kidneys, bladder, genitals and prostate. Health problems such as kidney stones, urinary incontinence, bladder dysfunction, prostate disease, cancer, impotence and infertility are commonly and effectively treated through professional urological care.

York Central Hospital's Urology Clinic is committed to providing our patients with the highest quality of care in a comfortable, safe, and confidential setting. The Clinic offers a full spectrum of urologic services for patients of all ages. 

Staffed by highly trained personnel, the Urology Clinic is equipped with state-of-the-art diagnostic and treatment technologies. The Clinic also offers patient education and counseling in the management of a variety of disorders. 

Urology Clinic Services 

After an initial consultation with clinic staff, patients may receive one or more of the following services: 

  • Bladder Dysfunction 

  • Incontinence evaluations and treatment plans 

  • Interstitial Cystitis treatment and counseling 

  • Urodynamics testing 

  • Uroflowmetry study 

  • Evaluation of recurrent infections 

  • Ultrasound 

  • Cystoscopy 

  • Biopsy 

  • Family Planning 

  • Vasectomy 

  • Infertility counseling 

  • Sexual Dysfunction Counseling 

  • Patient Education

Part of our philosophy at the York Central Hospital Urology Clinic is to help our patients, and their families, to better understand the cause and management of health problems associated with urologic illnesses and diseases. We are pleased to offer the following resources, free-of-charge, covering a wide variety of urological questions and concerns: 

  • Video and audio cassettes are available on loan 

  • Information pamphlets 

How to Access Urology Clinic Services 

Urology Clinic patients must be referred by their family physician or urologist. Once the referral has been made, Clinic staff will call the patient to arrange an appointment for an initial consultation. After the initial visit, follow-up appointments can be made directly with Clinic staff. 

Urology Clinic Hours and Location 

The Urology Clinic is open daily: 
Monday to Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. 

The Clinic is located on the 5th Floor in the Langstaff Wing at York Central Hospital.
